Winner in the highest level of the "Internationale Musiktage" in Vöcklabruck (Upper Austria) and 1. price in the concertdivision of the World Music Contest in Kerkrade

The Sinfonic wind orchestra Ried has developed during the last years to a high-class orchestra of the Austrian sinfonic wind music. As a result of many years' logical work the orchestra could form from a preschool wind orchestra of the land music school Ried to to a leading international sound body.
This way is also documented by the successful participation in national and international competitions:

WORLD MUSIC CONTEST IN KERKRADE
1. Price in the CONCERT DIVISION

The final breakthrough to the international point was the world championship taking place all 4 years in Kerkrade where the SBO Ried could make music in 2001 as the 1. Austrian orchestra in the 50-year-old history of this most important international competition in the top field.

This success received in 2003 confirmation by the assessment highest for many years of an orchestra with the famous Int. Orchestra competition in Valencia.

In March, 2004 the SBO Ried gave his debut concert in the Brucknerhaus Linz. In autumn of the same year the first DVD production was presented.
In 2005 the SBO Ried took part for the first time in the WorldMusicContest in Kerkrade in the concert division.

In 2006 special climaxes wait with the presentation of the 2nd DVD "Heimspiel" and the guest visit of the American composers Stephen Melillo with Workshops and a cheered concert in the Brucknerhaus Linz again for the orchestra.

The spring concerts in 2007 presented with the Viennese member of the philharmonic orchestra of Vienna Günter Voglmayr a top soloist with whom a several years' cooperation could be agreed.
The honourable invitation of the SBO Ried for the participation in the OPEN DUTCH CONTEST in Kerkrade in the concert division and an excellent abscission with the 3rd whole rank is another proof of high level and the international respect of the orchestra.

The 20-year-old existence of the orchestra was celebrated on the 26th of October, 2008 with a fulminating concert in the Brucknerhaus Linz.

In May, 2009 the SBO Ried could win the international orchestra competition in Vöcklabruck in the highest level and adduce the evidence of the international class in the highest play class with the WORLD MUSIC CONTEST in Kerkrade again.
This year a CD production with flute soloist Günter Voglmayr stood beside several concert appearances also on the programme.

In January 2010 the new DVD "Last World Standing" was presented to the public.
In 2010 Richard Strauss' ALPENSINFONIE also waits as a big challenge for the orchestra.

The SBO Ried awards regularly order works to home and international composers (e.g., Thomas Doss, Albin Zaininger, Alois Wimmer, Stephen Melillo, Franco Cesarini...).
Special value is placed beside playing orchestra pieces also at the care of the chamber music. In adaptable occupation a chamber music project presents the SBO-RIED-SINFONIETTA yearly.

From the rows of the orchestra many bandmasters and youth responsible persons have already been arisen for the local music bands. The SBO Ried is involved therefore also decisively in the high-class development of the regional wind orchestras.

Karl Geroldinger - conductor

Karl Geroldinger, born in 1960, studied trumpet at the "Bruckner Konservatorium Linz".
After his activity as a trumpet teacher at the land music school of Schärding he led 10 years the land music school Ried.
In 1995 he became director of the upper austrian wind music association.
For 10 years he wa a land youth adviser of the upper austrian wind music association.
For 17 years he is already bandmaster of the music association Enzenkirchen.
In 1986 he founded the SBO Ried As a result of many years' logical work the orchestra could form from a preschool wind orchestra the land music school reeds to to a leading international sound body. This way is also documented by the successful participation in national and international competitions.
