Orchestre National d’Harmonie des Jeunes de France, FR

The "Orchestre National d’Harmonie des Jeunes de France" has already been part of the Mid Europe 2009 - and they enjoyed the festival in such a way, that they will join the Mid Europe 2010 again! It´s a great honour for us!

France’s National Symphonic Youth Band is placed under the responsibility of the National Music Confederation (Confédération Musicale de France, CMF), and is supported by the Ministry of Culture.

The CMF offers young talented music students, the possibility of being part of a high level orchestra, guided by a staff of professional teachers and a distinguished musical director. The orchestra aims to provide a rich human and musical experience to the young musicians and seeks to represent the very best of France’s community band scene.

Therefore, the ONHJ aids with its activities to the development and the promotion of amateur wind orchestras and ensembles throughout the country, thereby reinforcing the evolution of a rich tradition of music making.
The ONHJ is concerned with the promotion of high quality literature. Its repertoire consists on original works from the French repertoire, as well as the international standard wind literature.  The programmes might also cover some other styles such as jazz, folk music or electronic crossovers.
The orchestra commissions and premieres every season one new original piece from a French composer, and hopes by doing so to contribute to the enlargement and to the development of the literature for winds.
